Parents and community members:  Please cast your vote for the 2020-21 School Site Council Election.

Nominees are:

Claire Saetia

Why you would like to be an SSC member?
As a SSC member, it would be my honor to support student success by ensuring funding is equitable for students of varying levels. It is critical that support be dispersed among all students to promote engagement, growth, and the joy of learning.

A little about yourself:
I am a local high science teacher (16 years) that has previously served on the SSC at my school site. As a resident of the WCE neighborhood since 2007, I can provide insight from a parent and neighbor point of view. My daughter started TK this year and my son will be a Timberwolf next year.

Jane Atienza-Morgan

Why you would like to be an SSC member?
Like many parents, my husband and I try to balance raising kids, working full time jobs, and navigating through life, especially during trying times like the current year. We are far from perfect and sometimes just learn as we go. We do however, as individuals and as parents, find support through other families and couples throughout the community and also offer support to others. And having a son who has been diagnosed with ASD we have connected to such a diverse community both on a personal and professional level. Personally, I would like to serve as an SSC member to represent and help those families who I have connected with and others who I have not connected with because I have experienced how important it is to be involved and to have the support of a community.

A little about yourself:
I was born and raised in San Diego and my parents migrated to the US through the military. Both of my kids have been attending school in the Chula Vista community since preschool. My husband and I are parents to an amazing daughter in fourth grade at Wolf Canyon and an amazing son who is a freshman at Olympian. I have worked for the same non-profit Institute for 21 years who supports scientific research at major Universities throughout the country. There, I have worn many hats through the years from working in a research lab, to procurement, finance and now supporting our business systems training and support (mostly remotely).

Michael Hall

Why you would like to be an SSC member?
I have enjoyed being a classroom volunteer for the past couple of years because it has been a way to support the staff and kids directly. 2020 has presented some unique challenges with in-person learning, so the opportunity to serve in this capacity has also shifted. So, I was intrigued when I saw the listing for school site council because it's another way to serve and support the common goal of student achievement. As an entrepreneur, I believe I can bring a unique set of skills and perspective to this position. I'm also involved with my kids' education on a daily basis, so I have firsthand knowledge of their curriculum.

A little about yourself:
Growing up, I never thought I would have made San Diego my home. But, I'm so glad that I have. I love our community and neighborhood in Chula Vista. It's wonderfully diverse and truly supportive. Because of this, I feel compelled to give back and serve in whatever capacity I can. I would describe myself as a husband and father first. I just celebrated my 15th year anniversary with my wife, Jorgina, who is a biology teacher at Otay Ranch High School. We have two wonderful kids, Kaitlyn and Liam. And we live in the best darn neighborhood which has literally become our second family. I've had the good fortune of starting, running, and selling a profitable I.T. services company. During this span of 10 years, I served as president of the company. In addition to my leadership role and guiding a team, I was heavily involved in the finances. Upon selling the company, I chose to stay at home with my kids while they were young (my daughter was 1 at the time). I wanted to be fully present with them in their formative years and I'm so glad that I have. As they have become more self-sufficient, I have shifted my time to help others as a financial coach. Essentially, I help people to get “unstuck” with their money and get them on the fast track to financial freedom. It is my hope and intention that my experience and circumstances can strongly support this role within the school site council. Thanks for the consideration and I hope to be able to serve with you here.
