Both inexperienced and experienced participants are welcome to participate with aim to diversify their shooting techniques when working with 16mm film, as well as understanding the material properties of film and its manipulation possibilities by developing and processing the film manually in the laboratory.

A two-day creative 16mm film workshop together with Latvian filmmaker and head of Riga’s film lab Baltic Analog Lab - Ieva Balode will be teaching art of 16mm black and white filmmaking in an experimental way using shooting as well as cameraless animation techniques.
The students will learn the basics of using 16mm film camera as well as processing it and projecting it on a film projector.
We will also learn about the structure of the analog 16mm film and learn to create abstract animation by using light, organic materials and photo-chemical chemistry.
Both inexperienced and experienced participants are welcome to participate with aim to diversify their shooting techniques when working with 16mm film, as well as understanding the material properties of film and its manipulation possibilities by developing and processing the film manually in the laboratory.
