The Independent Committee is the only committee appointed by the General Assembly (the members) of Extra Muros. It is tasked with maintaining the democratic and financial legitimacy of the association. For a more detailed description about the Independent Committee check out the link below:
What is expected from you?
The board and the General Assembly at least expects you to:
- be present at the General Assemblies (around four per year), at which you check the voting procedures;
- conduct an audit, including a review of finances, once per semester.
This all will only take a couple of hours per semester. Help the association with just a little bit of your time!
Role of confidant
The board is planning to extend the tasks of the Independent Committee by appointing its members as confidants. When a members needs a listening ear because something happened in their personal life or during one of the events of Extra Muros, you act as confidential person. Moreover, if further action is needed, you will act as mediator between members or members and the board.
This proposal is to be voted upon by the members during upcoming General Assembly. The official proposal, including altered and new articles for the Rules of Procedure, will be communicated at least one week before the General Assembly.
Appointment
All applicants will be presented by the board at upcoming General Assembly, after which the members will appoint two members by a regular voting procedure. A member can raise a motion after which a third person may be appointed.
