Our citizen scientists are a core part of our forage fish monitoring program. As part of this program we have a variety of activities and locations where you can volunteer, all of your time is helpful and appreciated. Of course, the health and safety of our staff and volunteers is our number one priority. That being said, Project Watershed would like you to know our COVID-19 protocols for volunteering. This includes the following best practices set out by BC Ministry of Health and Health Canada Recommendations.


We will be implementing the following health and safety protocols during current field and processing activities:

1) If you feel unwell, do not volunteer. Take precautions, and look after yourself at home.
2) Max of 4 people at a site (staff plus max. 3 volunteers)
3) Maintaining 2 meter (6ft) physical distancing protocol between staff and volunteers
4) Encouraging the usage of non-surgical masks when physical distancing is not possible
5) Sanitizing and cleaning all high touch surfaces between sampling sites. All field tools are thoroughly washed after field activities
6) Personal Transportation to sites (no carpooling)
7) Access to hand sanitizer,  gloves, and encouraging the use of non-surgical masks, we will have some available if you do not have your own

Please NOTE we are trying our best to keep our sampling groups small. To ensure physical distancing is maintained volunteers are accepted on a first-come basis.
