Works of Mercy - Reflection on Service
Please complete this form for one of the service opportunities you completed.

Living out our Catholic Christian faith includes a commitment to be of service to others. As Jesus demonstrated at The Last Supper when he washed the feet of his disciples, we are called to serve others. As it says in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus “did not come to be served, but to serve.” Service to the poor, hungry, grieving, lonely, homeless, hurting and imprisoned is something we are called to give all of our lives. It is one way we become witnesses to the good news of the gospel.

Service is an especially important element of your preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is through works of mercy and service to others that we encounter Christ.

The areas of service can be from: Home, Parish, School, and Community

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.” - St. Teresa of Avila
