Mariah Parker is the District 2 Commissioner in Athens, GA, and a doctoral candidate in Language and Literacy Education at UGA. According to Teen Vogue and her commission profile, she "is black, openly queer,... a rapper, and dedicated to transformative politics for communities of color." " She has also toured internationally as a performing artist....She leads literacy workshops on hip hop, spoken word and civic engagement at local schools."
