"NUMBERS (Cardinal and Ordinal)"
Os Números em Inglês (numbers in english) indicam quantidade, idade, horas, e são classificados como cardinal numbers (números cardinais) e ordinal numbers (números ordinais).
*CARDINAL NUMBERS (números cardinais)
Representam a forma básica dos números (1, 2, 3, 4, 5…) e indicam uma quantidade exata.
Consulte a tabela abaixo com os números de 1 a 2000 em inglês.

*Attention
1) O número 100 pode ser dito de duas formas em inglês: a hundred ou one hundred. Para formar as outras centenas, basta unir a palavra hundred a uma palavra que represente uma unidade (two, three, four..).
- Exemplos:
400 - four hundred;
500 - five hundred;
600 - six hundred
2) Diferentemente do que acontece em português, o uso da conjunção e (and) para ligar unidades, centenas e milhares é opcional.
Exemplos:
145 - a hundred and forty-five ou a hundred forty-five
1.234 - a thousand and two hundred and thirty-five ou a thousand, two hundred thirty-five.
*ORDINAL NUMBERS (números ordinais)
São usados para indicar ordem em uma sequência (1st , 2nd, 3rd , 4th, 5th…).

1) No inglês, quando um número é formado por mais de um algarismo, somente o último algarismo é expresso como ordinal.
- Exemplos:
21st - apenas o número "1" é expresso como número ordinal: twenty-first
75th - apenas o número "5" é expresso como número ordinal: seventy-fifth
2) Geralmente, os números ordinais em inglês são formados com a adição do sufixo “-th”. No entanto, a forma por extenso de alguns números apresenta os sufixos: “-st” (first), “-nd” (second) e “-rd” (third).
Observe que a forma abreviada de expressar cada número ordinal é feita através do uso das duas últimas letras da forma por extenso.
- Exemplos:
1º > first > 1st
2º > second> 2nd
3º > third > 3rd
15º > fifteenth > 15th
38º > thirty-eighth > 38th
*Números ordinais nas datas
Os números ordinais em inglês também são utilizados para escrever datas.
- Exemplos:
Inglês americano
03/15/1982 - March 15th, 1982 (March fifteenth, nineteen eighty-two).

Ambos os exemplos são traduzidos em português como 15 de março de 1982 (quinze de março de mil novecentos e oitenta e dois).
*Ordinais em hierarquias
Quando a representação gráfica de um título hierárquico utiliza números romanos, a forma por extenso e a leitura são feitas com a utilização de números ordinais.
- Exemplos:
Queen Elizabeth II - Queen Elizabeth the Second (Rainha Elizabeth Segunda).
King Henry VIII - King Henry the Eighth (Rei Henrique Oitavo).
Dom Pedro I - Dom Pedro the First (Dom Pedro Primeiro).
