The Fix Is In will help property owners who provide shelter, food, water and ongoing monitoring to a colony of cats, whether they are friendly or feral, or a mixture of the two. Included with surgery are a rabies vaccination, distemper combination vaccine, ear cleaning, and an application of Selamectin, a topical parasite treatment. Minimal wound care and other health related treatments may also be provided. All cats must receive an ear tip, no exceptions; this will assist in monitoring the colony for new cats who will need to be captured and sterilized. The property owner must be willing to continue providing food, water and shelter to the cats, as well as the monitoring for serious health concerns and new arrivals. The new arrival monitoring is critical to prevent the reproductive cycle from beginning again. The colony size is expected to decline as the cats age and die over time.

Please describe the space on your property where the cats (in traps) can be kept inside the night before and the night after surgery? Is the indoor temperature appropriate for the season (cool enough in summer, warm enough in spring/fall)? The building may be a garage, shed or barn. *

How much you will be able to contribute toward this project? *

The Fix Is In maintains a fund to help provide this service. The fund relies heavily on donations. The cost per cat for this service is $45. Any contribution toward the services provided to you will help us to continue offering this service.

Do you have access to any live traps or carriers? If so, how many of each? *

Each cat must be in its own live trap or carrier for the surgery day. Because the goal is to sterilize all of the cats on your property, it is important to follow all instructions for rounding up the cats. The Fix Is In has live traps available for use and will provide guidance and assistance as we are able. It is expected that ALL cats be in traps/carriers when the mobile arrives at 8:00 am (or other designated time).

Are you able to clean all of the borrowed traps after use? *

You will be expected to clean all of the borrowed traps after use. This can be done with a power washer, or at a self-service car wash, or with a large tote/bin of soapy water, a brush and hose. After cleaning, traps should be sprayed with a 10% bleach solution, allowed to set for 10 minutes, and then rinsed off.
