We’d like a representative from each county’s 4-H Archery program to respond to a survey regarding possible interest in a “virtual” archery league being proposed to start either late this year or early next year. Please respond by September 30, 2020 to help us decide how to move forward.
Overview
In order to provide additional archery opportunities to Michigan’s 4-H archery members, a proposal has been submitted to explore the creation of a “virtual” league that would be shot at your local ranges starting either late this year or early next year. The proposal includes 3 different events or “leagues”, that would be created and run over the course of 4-6 weeks, each, depending upon interest and available support at the county level. Kids would have the opportunity to select as many or as few of these options as they desire. The three options would include a modified version of a FITA round, an NFAA Field target round and an NFAA Animal paper target round so the kids interested in 3D would have a similar option to their preferred choice. County leaders would provide results to a league administrator for final compilation. The actual fees to participate in the leagues are still being evaluated and will be determined once a better idea of what the participation levels may reach.
Please review the Maple Leaf Press
https://www.mapleleafpress.com/ for examples of targets used in those different rounds.
Other disciplines? With volunteer support and youth participation, we would be interested in expanding this tournament to other disciplines.
If you have any questions, please include them in the comments section at the bottom of the survey. They will be compiled and addressed either directly or in a future email if essentially identical questions are posed by multiple counties.
