The Nominations Committee is currently taking nominations for a position on the Board of Directors. Any member may nominate another member and any member may nominate themselves. An application form is below.
We desire to have representation from Canada, Oregon, California and Washington.
A diversity of talents and skills are needed to manage and guide NWSSA. The following skills are especially important (however not required): experience in business administration, bookkeeping, grant writing, negotiations, writing skills, graphics skills, interpersonal communication skills, legal knowledge, prior BOD experience, experience in non-profit organization, experience in event planning
What does it take to be a good Board member?- Attend board meetings regularly. Meetings via zoom are held approximately 10 times during the year.
- Become well informed on all agenda items. This includes reading and understanding the Bylaws and information sent out before each meeting.
- Contribute knowledge, consider other points of view, help board make group decisions.
- Assume leadership roles on the board, such as on the board’s committees or becoming an officer (President, Vice-president, secretary, or treasurer)
- Be informed about NWSSA programs and policies.
- Present a positive view of NWSSA to the public.
