You Need a Dramaturge! Workshop with Pamela Halstead
Do you have an exciting idea but don’t know where to start?
Do you have a few scenes but are stuck?
Are you nearly finished a draft of a play but struggling with the ending?
Now you have a chance to ask a dramaturge! Bring your idea/scenes/play to the workshop and discuss your piece with Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre’s Artistic Director, Pamela Halstead. She will discuss with you your concept, ask dramaturgical questions to focus you, and give you a clear direction to help you get to the next step. Return after a day of writing with a whole play, one new scene or monologue, an outline or just more questions! The process and outcomes are different for each participant. You will not be “judged” on work accomplished – it is about process!
Pamela Halstead has over twenty years experience as a dramaturge including the Banff Playwrights Colony, lead dramaturge for Lunchbox Theatre’s Stage One Festival and the PARC Playwrights Retreat. In her 10 years at the helms of Ship’s Company (Parrsboro, NS) and Lunchbox Theatre (Calgary, AB), she dramaturged, directed and/or produced over 60 productions, most of them premieres of new works.
You Need a Dramaturge! is open to both emerging and established playwrights. Come with a full draft, a few scenes, or only an idea. Maximum 12 participants.
