Instructions To The Monitor/Evaluator

The candidates shall be provided with a structure/prop with an out-swinging door.
The candidates shall be provided with a halligan tool and flat-headed axe.
The candidates shall be provided with a charged hoseline.
The candidates shall work as a team with one firefighter being assigned as the lead person and one assigned as the backup person as designated by the evaluator.
The candidates shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.

Instructions To The Candidates

The candidates, given forceable entry tools and working as a team, shall demonstrate a procedure for forcing open an out-swinging door with 100% accuracy.

Lead Firefighter - 7 Steps *

1) Wears full PPE

2) Ensures charged hoseline available

3) Checks door for heat and to see if its locked (try before you pry)

4) Inserts halligan tool between the door and jamb above or below the lock

5) Instructs back up to strike prying tool

6) After charged hoseline is manned, pry the tool bar away from the door to move the door and jamb apart

7) Pulls the door open

3) Strikes forcible entry tool with flat head axe on command from lead firefighter
