The "IIT Bombay FOSSEE Geospatial Mapathon 2024 (Edition IV)" is India's most coveted map-making competition for creating thematic maps, using open-source data and open-source mapping software. It is a collaborative event where participants come together to develop new tools/methods that improve the accuracy and usefulness of maps for a community. The FOSSEE team at IIT Bombay, along with its partners Rural Data Research Analysis Lab, IIT Bombay,  IIT Tirupati's Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) IITTNiF (DST, Government of India), and knowledge partners Survey of India, ICFOSS, Delhi Technological University (DTU) invites all Indians (please see eligibility criteria on our website). - to produce maps using various data (e.g. observation, remote sensing, crowdsourced, etc.). The primary objective is to understand the potential of remote sensing data and make maps for Indian regions using free open-source mapping software (e.g.: QGIS). The participants will collectively work in a crowd-sourcing method for jointly producing thematic maps of India.

The IIT Bombay FOSSEE Mapathon also aims to develop indigenous capacity to customize and employ mapping to resolve societal challenges and create new opportunities for young India.-. The primary objective is to understand the potential of open-source mapping and maps for Indian regions and to build capacity for the same. 

This event is organized jointly by IIT Bombay FOSSEE and IIT Tirupati IITTNiF, with the Rural Data Research and Analysis (RuDRA) Lab, IIT Bombay's technical partner for the fourth consecutive time.

1. It is mandatory to fill out this registration form for participation.

2. Institutions who are participating for the first time in our activity, can write to us at mohamedkasim@iitb.ac.in to learn more about the process of getting a comprehensive performance report which can be used for your NAAC and NIRF reports,  and also help us get the IIT BombayFOSSEE GIS benefit to reach most of your students and faculty.

3. Please fill in the details in the form 'carefully' without any mistake(s), as we will be using the same info while printing certificates (if your submissions are found valid. more details on the website https://iitb-fossee-mapathon.fossee.in).

4. Spamming of any sort [OR] filling incorrect information [OR] non-adherence to any of the FOSSEE-GIS mandates shall automatically lead to disqualification of the individual, team(s), and their respective institution.

5. All the communications related to the "IIT Bombay FOSSEE Geospatial Mapathon 2024 (Edition IV)" will be sent through our official email IDs <no-reply@fossee.org>, <mohamedkasim@iitb.ac.in>'. NOTE:

a). Depending on the number of participants the "IIT Bombay FOSSEE GIS" team shall also award the winners State-wise/ University-wise/ DTE, DHE, or in any other format which shall be accepted by the committee. 

b). There shall be dedication zone-wise "IIT Bombay FOSSEE Geospatial Mapathon 2024 (Edition IV)" ORIENTATION SESSIONS for FOSSEE-GIS's partner institutions across India till the last day of registration. For any query, write to mohamedkasim@iitb.ac.in
