Fueling bodies and minds is crucial regardless of where the learning occurs!   Walker County Schools Child Nutrition Program will be offering a meal pickup option on Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 for students who have chosen the Remote-learning option.  Meals are free for all students, regardless of eligibility, through the end of this school year.  
 
An order form must be filled out for EACH student wanting to pick up meals.  The form includes weekly meal pickup dates for an entire month.  Meal bags will be available by pre-order only.  Meals are free for all students, regardless of eligibility, through  the end of this school year. Please order by Friday at 4:00 PM for pick up on Wednesday.

*Meal bags contain 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches. Meals will not be served on holidays.

Meals will be picked up at your child’s school from 9:00-10:00.  You do not have to get out of your vehicle.  The meals will be passed through the car window.  Cold foods must be kept below 41°F.  Foods that require reheating must be reheated to 165°F.

CNP Letter to Parents Regarding Meal Pick-up
Fueling bodies and minds is crucial regardless of where the learning occurs!  Walker County Schools Child Nutrition Program wants to ensure that all students have access to meals.  Therefore, we will be offering a meal pickup option on Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 for students who have chosen the Remote-learning option. Meal bags will be available by pre-order only.  Meals are free for all students, regardless of eligibility, through  the end of this school year.

These meals follow the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program meal pattern set by USDA.  A combination of fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable foods will be in each student’s meal bag. Cold foods must be kept below 41°F.  Foods that require reheating must be reheated to 165°F.

INSTRUCTIONS:  Please fill out an online order form that will be on the school website and/or social media for EACH student. Each form includes weekly meal pick up dates for an entire month’s time.  You may choose to pick up meals for all weeks or select weeks. A new online form will be released with the following month’s pick-up dates at the end of each month.  An order form must be filled out for EACH student wanting to pick up meals.

Each student will receive a Meal Card.  When picking up a meal, the parent will only need to show each student’s meal card.  If the meal card is present, the child does not have to be in the vehicle.

***If you need to cancel a pick-up, please notify the Lunchroom Manager at your pick-up location by 8:00 a.m. the day of pick up, either by telephone or email. If there are three consecutive days of no cancellation calls and no pick-up, your student may be removed from the meal pick up list.

ALLERGIES:  If your child has a food allergy we must have a physician's order stating what their food allergy is and if there are any appropriate substitutes.  

COST OF MEALS:  
Meals are free for all students, regardless of eligibility, through  the end of this school year.

Any school week that is shortened due to an anticipated school closure/holiday will have prorated meal totals.  Meals will not be served/distributed on any anticipated school closures or holidays.
