Robotics Club 20/21
We are planning to have robotics club here at Trail Ridge Middle School.  We will meet twice a week after school
via webex.  We have a lot of momentum coming off of last year's state championships where we took 1st place.  Students wanting to join our competitive club have the opportunity to take home the materials to build a clawbot, write and download a program, then modify the robot to complete objectives for this year's game.  Students will answer most of these questions but we encourage parents and students to discuss each question before students type their answer.  Based on the answers students provide, TRMS will decide if they show enough interest and responsibility to take a kit home.

The final 3 questions are for parents only.

We are planning to have a webex meeting for all families interested in taking part in Trail Ridge Competitive Robotics.  We will go over specifics, answer questions, and introduce more in depth the plan moving forward.

The webex meeting will take place at a date to be determined based on the direction the district chooses to go with hybrid/in person/online learning.  If we can have in person clubs, we would prefer going that direction to maximize the production and learning of the kids in the robotics club.  We may have to stay online, we will see.

For any questions, feel free to contact either coach:

What is the name of the student? *
Vex Clawbot
Student:  How much experience, in years, do you have with robotics? *
Student: What platform have you used in the past? *
Required
Student: What do you hope to accomplish by being part of TRMS Robotics? *
How would you be sure you are focused on robotics during our club time? *
Student: Here is a link to a video that explains this year's game:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxs0q9UoMDQ  How would you design a robot to compete on our field for this game?  What would you want the robot to be able to do?   *
Student: What would your strategy be for this year's  game? *
Student: VEX Robots need to have a program written and downloaded to the brain.  iPads do NOT have the ability to work with VEX EDR.  Do you have a computer at home? *
Student: What precautions would you take to ensure the materials will not be damaged/lost/stolen? *
Student: How would you store the robot and other materials? *
Student: If/when we come back to in person learning at Trail Ridge, you will be expected to form a team.  In Robotics Club, how would you conduct your behavior to make sure you are being a good teammate? *
Parent/Guardian: There is a reduced fee to have your child be part of the robotics club to help cover the cost of materials.  Parts can break.  Some materials are small and can easily be lost.  Are you aware that  you will need to come to school to pay the $50 fee before materials will be available to be sent home?   *
Parent/Guardian:  Please type your name in the space provided if you are willing to take responsibility for the materials we provide.  A complete robot will be around $1000.  No other schools are sending materials home.  We feel that students should have the right to have this experience, but there comes a responsibility.  By signing, parents understand that should the materials be lost/stolen/damaged, they take financial responsibility for replacement. *
Parent/Guardian:  please type your email in the space provided.  If more than one person would like to receive information/announcements about robotics club, please type all emails. *
