RULES:
• Write us a Limerick containing the word  "piano." OR any of its synonyms. i.e. pianoforte, spinet, clavier, etc
• You may use the word in any of its meanings and in any spot within your verse.
• Submitted entries MUST be original and conform to the ☘️ Limerick form.
• One ☘️ Limerick per entrant
• Please do not be obscene or disrespectful
• That's pretty much all we ask!

PRIZE:
Up for grabs is the chance to become this year’s Champion ☘️ Limerick Writer and walk away with prize valued at €350. Along with a cash prize of €100, the prize will also include an original - beautifully framed, illustrated drawing of your Limerick by local Northern Irish Artist ☘️Helen Mc Nulty. Not bad for a five liner!

REGULATIONS:
1. By entering the competition you give permission for your Limerick to be used by the Piano Academy of Ireland.
2. It is the responsibility of each entrant that any Limerick submitted does not infringe on the copyright of any third party or any laws. By submitting a Limerick, entrants confirm that the content they are submitting is their own work.
3. Although initial judging will be of the written submission, finalists will need to recite their Limerick on video for the finals.
4. Limericks will be judged on humour, cleverness, and that the “Piano” reference can be easily understood by listeners.
4. There will be one overall winner for the Limerick competition.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A LIMERICK?
A Limerick is a five-line poem with the following rhyme form: a a b b a. The rhythm is just as important in a Limerick as the rhyme. Another common characteristic of many Limericks is that the first line ends with the name of a place, although this is not strictly necessary. Most importantly, Limericks are meant to be funny. They often contain hyperbole, onomatopoeia (naming a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it, e.g. "buzz" or "hiss"), idioms, puns, and other figurative devices. You see, the Limerick can be quite musical! The last line of a good Limerick contains the PUNCH LINE or "heart of the joke."

Here's an example:
There once was a banshee called Anno,
Who was learning to play the piano.
She was doomed to fail,
And started to wail -
And now she’s a world class soprano!
