Ice Cream Social, September 19th; 6:30-8pm: Our first big event of the year, where students and families join together for free ice cream, meeting new people and catching up with old friends. One of our most popular events of the year. Volunteers are needed for set-up, serving ice cream, and clean up.

Challenger Chase Fun Run, October 4th: Our ONLY fundraiser of the year, our students get to run themselves silly as they raise money for the PTSA to help meet our budget requirements for events, grants, and support for our school. Volunteers are needed for the day of the event and the fun run assembly on Oct. 25th.

Fall Coat Drive, October 7th-16th: We collect new and gently used winter clothing items for families in our community that might otherwise go without.

School Pictures, Sept. 20th (make-ups), Nov.5th (re-takes) and/or March 20th for class photos: Help is needed to bring students from class to the portable for pictures and back to their classroom and student wrangling.

Payload Packet Production, once a month: Help with payload packets and copies.

Campus Enhancement: It consists of two main events, campus clean-up in April and summer watering which occurs once a week. An online sign up is created to recruit summer volunteers for each week.

NEW THIS YEAR! Sustainability Committee: McAuliffe is going green this year and needs help developing waste reduction and recycling measures, "Walk to School" and "Bike to School" events, Earth Day/Week in April, and working with the student Green Team.
Vision & Hearing Screening, November 12th: Each year, parents and family members help with screening our students for potential vision and hearing issues. We are also looking for someone to be trained as the chair for the 2020-2021 school year.

Reflections Art Competition: This program is led by the National PTA and students from across the country submit original works of art in various categories. Volunteer opportunities are necessary for our school only.

Giving Tree, November 25th-27th: This is our annual holiday drive to provide items such as clothing, toys, gift cards, etc. for families in our community so that everyone's holidays are bright.

Talent Show, Nov. 21st: This is a fun showcase of our student's talents from singing, dancing, comedy, magic, you name it, our students can do it!

Used Book Rodeo, Jan. 22nd-Jan. 31st: This week-long event takes place during Parent/Teacher Conferences. The Commons becomes one huge used book sale for students, staff, and families. The week prior (1/14-1/18) is when books are donated by school students and their families. Volunteers are needed during both weeks to help with the collection, set up and sales. Volunteer for as little or as much time as you can give.

Bingo Night, February 20th: Free to play with cash prizes and a raffle for fun items too!  We are in need of someone to chair this event in order to make it happen.

Teacher Appreciation Week, April 28th-30th: We spend a week celebrating our teachers by providing lunch and other fun gifts.

International Night, June 4th, 6:30-8pm: This is an evening where the Commons becomes a global event to discover the world outside our own little community. (This event occurs every other year) We need a chair in order to make this event happen.

Field Day & All School BBQ, May 29th: A day of outdoor activities for the kids and a chance to eat a BBQ lunch with their families! This event is the last big event of the school year and is a great way to welcome summer!

Math Challenge occurs throughout the school year: with a high participation rate of students, this is a fun way to get our students excited about math. Fifteen challenges throughout the school year are offered to students and graded with results being posted in the school hallway. Volunteers are needed to help grade the math challenges and keep track of student submissions. We are in need of a chair to make this program happen.

Spring School Play, March-April: This event for 4th and 5th grades takes place over 6 weeks with some big and small volunteer needs such as rehearsal chaperones, costume organization (no sewing required), ticket sales, playbill design, and production, etc.

Spring Spelling Bee, February: We've had a dedicated volunteer run this event for many years and they have all the instructions and details ready to pass on to the next chair. Volunteers needed to run the events includes assembling placards for the spelling bee, judges for grades K-2 and grades 3-5 and student check-in. We need a chair to make this event happen.

5th Grade Promotion: This event is a celebration of our 5th graders for all their accomplishments in elementary school. Help make this special for them and their families! We are in need of 1-2 committee chairs for this along with committee members. The committee is traditionally made up of 4th and 5th-grade parents. Check all interests that apply.
Art Start: A year-round program that provides art classes in the classroom led by parents. There are multiple ways of being involved. The committee provides training and resources.

Pantry Packs: Help by picking up pantry packs in Kirkland and deliver to the school. This is a vital program that helps provide food to families needing extra support. Students receive food to take home for the weekend.

Yearbook: Help put together our annual yearbook or provide photographs from school events.

Popcorn Sales: A few times a year, we need help to pop and sell popcorn for Spirit Days. Proceeds from sales go directly to the ASB and their programs.
