“It is necessary to acknowledge that the original meaning of an object is lost the moment it enters the museum’s walls. The ability of a museum to unfold narratives and suggest inferences allows it to act as a platform for reflection on knowledge systems, beliefs, values and attitudes.”

“In the best conversations, no one is used; ownership is shared. Everyone leaves with a sense that the ideas exchanged belong to each person present. Everyone also leaves respecting those who were part of the exchange, whether or not there was agreement. For me, conversation does make connections, it helps make connection possible.”
Michael Brenson, Curator
Dialogue Sparked aims to foster meaningful conversations about issues that matter to UA students. 3-5 students from across campus come together during one academic term (August 2020 – April 2021) to get to know each other, pick a significant topic that is important to all of them, and collaborate on a final project utilizing the UA Museum’s collections.
Applications are due August 21st, 5PM. If you have questions, please email Laurel Lamb at
