ITC Youth Application- Assistant Pool Director
Thank you for your interest in applying for the Assistant Pool Director position at Illinois Turner Camp. The Youth Committee looks to hire enthusiastic and responsible assistant directors with strong leadership and communication skills.  To assure the health and safety of employees and campers, all hired staff are subject to drug testing. Listed below are the expectations of the Assistant Pool Director:


-Collaborate with director to plan and carry out daily activities during afternoon pool hours (Monday-Friday; 1:00PM-3:00PM).

-Improve and refine counselors' skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons.

-Enforce pool safety standards and facility rules for all individuals using the pool.

-Resolve simple public complaints in matters related to the pool and refer other complaints to the Pool Director.

-Assist director in managing important paperwork, like camper awards and certificates, and counselor midsummer and final reviews.

-Help director communicate important dates, times, themes, and activities to parents and guardians of campers.

-Facilitate after program activities, like Tuesday night games or Friday night awards.

-Initiate enthusiasm amongst colleagues and campers.

-Establish positive relationships with campers, counselors, and parents.

-Assume the role of director when director is absent.

-Provide emergency care to campers during program hours.

-Maintain constant surveillance of patrons at the pool.

-Act immediately and appropriately to assure safety of all Turners in the event of an emergency while on duty.

-Maintain clean and safe facilities at Illinois Turner Camp.


The tentative start date of employment is Saturday, June 1st, 2024 and the end date is Monday, September 2nd, 2024. All program directors are expected to participate in a mandatory training program prior to the start date of employment.  
 
Applicants must be 16 years of age prior to June 1, 2024. In addition, all hired staff must show proof of the following certifications prior to their start date:
 
                American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Certification
                American Red Cross (ARC) First Aid Certification/CPR  
                American Red Cross (ARC) CPR/AED
