Coastal Conservancy Project Selection Criteria
THIS FORM IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSES.

Thank you for your input into the California State Coastal Conservancy's project selection criteria. The Conservancy has used project selection criteria for the past twenty years to communicate priorities to potential applicants and project partners, to evaluate grant applications, and to prioritize projects for funding. The current criteria can be found here: https://scc.ca.gov/grants/project-selection-criteria/

The current updating process is in response to the recently approved JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Guidelines (https://scc.ca.gov/files/2020/09/JEDI_Guidelines_FINAL.pdf) that the Conservancy adopted in September of last year. The new project selection criteria will reflect the JEDI Guidelines that address funding programs, meaningful engagement and working with California's tribes.

The update is also an opportunity to align the criteria related to climate change with current state policy and guidance.

Finally, the update is an opportunity to clarify, consolidate, and clean up the criteria, which will enable the Conservancy to apply the criteria more consistently.

The steps Conservancy staff have taken to get input in the new criteria have included surveying existing grantees and grant applicants, researching to identify best practices and learning about specific issues regarding meaningful community engagement and anti-displacement strategies. Now, we are asking the public for their input on the criteria. After the public comment period ends, we will conduct at least one webinar to further discuss the draft criteria.

This comment form will be open until July 1st.

Below you will find a space to write your questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you again.
