WUHSD Reopening Fall 2020 Parent Input
The Whittier Union High School District is in its final stages of building a learning model to meet all state and L.A. County guidelines as well as increase the health and safety of students and staff. As of July 17, the Governor listed LA County as a "watchlist" county, requiring us to open in a 100% distance learning model, which we consider Phase 1 of a Four phase process to fully reopening. By now, many of you have had the opportunity to attend a school community forum explaining the 4 phases. All phases will have most students taking three (3) classes during each 9 week period, resulting in the completion of one semester's worth of learning and are summarized as follows:
Phase 1: 100% online learning
Phase 2: Remain in online learning with some students (those who need additional support) allowed to meet with teachers in very small group settings for a limited amount of time. ALL students, staff, and visitors required to wear a face-covering and comply with physical distancing requirements.
Phase 3: Hybrid model: online learning three days per week, students attend on-campus classes two days per week. This model ensures the physical distancing guidelines are met within the classroom. ALL students, staff, and visitors required to wear a face-covering and comply with physical distancing requirements.
Phase 4: Hybrid model: online learning one day per week, students attend on-campus classes four days per week. ALL students, staff, and visitors are required to wear a face-covering and follow current health guidelines.
The following survey is to best prepare for Phases 1-4. Thank you in advance for helping us plan a safe and enriching learning experience for your student.
