What is Student Government?
Student Government (or “StuGo”) is a combination of a Student Leadership class and an extra curricular activity. During the leadership class, students participate in and guide leadership activities, plan and discuss upcoming events, meet with teachers and administrators, and work with parents and members of the community. The extra curricular activities StuGo plans include: all Homecoming events, Wish Week, Prom, all graduation events, community service projects, school spirit projects, school policy changes, and many more. All of this work is focused on the goals of DEVELOPING LEADERS and MAKING SMOKY HILL A BETTER PLACE!
Our Vision
Our organization’s vision is to help build a strong sense of community at SHHS. Our resources (time, energy and money) will be focused on activities and projects that enhance the sense of connection out students, staff and parents feel for our school and each other.

Student Government will also serve as a resource to help other groups at SHHS who share our vision of building school community. Whenever possible we will assist these groups in their efforts.

We will also serve as a resource for training student leaders of all experience and ability levels. Leadership training will include skill development in communication, teamwork, goal setting, problem solving, organization and personal reflection.
