We invite you to participate as a workshop leader in Whatcom County's first ever Youth Climate Summit! The Summit will gather High School youth to connect with their peers who share similar climate concerns, learn more about key climate issues & local solutions, and gain skills to become powerful change makers in the climate movement.
The theme of this inaugural Summit is Local Climate Solutions and will be held on Saturday, August 5th from 9:45-4:00pm at WWU. There will be an optional service day Friday, August 4th for students.
Concurrent workshops are 40 minutes and run from 10:50-11:30 and 11:40-12:20.
Workshops requirements:
- Workshops are 40 min long
- Workshops can accommodate 5-15 students
- Solutions-focused
Workshops will be selected by a Youth Advisory Council. They will prioritize choosing workshops that are:
- Hands on and interactive over lecture-based
- Given by someone comfortable/experienced working with youth
- Given by youth (under 25) or BIPOC
- About a local climate solution
- connected to social and climate justice
Workshop proposals are due June 24th and you can expect to hear back if your proposal has been approved by June 30th. We will provide additional logistics details at that time.
