BAPA Performance Request
Our goal is to make your request as seamless as possible. Please take a moment to provide background on your upcoming event. After which, we'll reach out to you discuss details, group availability, and any fees.

We have three performing groups:

1. New York City Gay Men's Chorus - a group of 10 to 200 singers, depending on your event.
2. Tonewall a cappella - 8 to 12 NYCGMC singers who perform without accompaniment.
3, Youth Pride Chorus - 8 to 10 singing young people.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does the appearance process work?
  1. Submit this request form which provides a high-level understanding of your event.
  2. We contact you to discuss specifics and how one of our groups can be awesome addition!
  3. We confirm member availability on the day of your event (we're a volunteer organization so performers have day jobs). Also, discuss any fees if we haven't already.
  4. Finalize our participation/songs/etc. then we'll draft a contract for signature.
  5. Coordinate closely, leading up to your event with you, your contacts, venue personnel, etc. to help ensure everything is squared away for a successful event!
How do you choose song(s) for my event?
  • Repertoire - NYCGMC, Tonewall and Youth Pride Chorus have broad repertoires that cover many situations. You'll work closely with the group's director to find the right choices.
  • Custom requests - You may request a specific song though we need a few weeks to create a music arrangement and learn your request. Arranging, licensing and learning costs would be passed through to you.
Do you need a sound system?
  • Yes, generally:
Tonewall - Most environments are not 'a cappella friendly' acoustics, so 12 microphones (1 per singer, wired or wireless) plus speaker system and monitors.

NYCGMC and Youth Pride Chorus - For larger events, 4 - 6 microphones on stands, speaker system and monitors, plus a keyboard plugged into the system (a tuned upright or grand piano onsite may replace the keyboard). For smaller events, it's possible to go without a speaker system depending on acoustics.
  • Sourcing sound needs:
Renting - We can recommend vendors that rent sound systems or keyboards and deliver to your venue the day of your event.

Provided sound - For a fee, we can provide a sound system of wired mics, appropriate for small to medium size events.
