Kemp ISD Gifted and Talented
Program identifies students with noticeable/outstanding artistic talent and
services those students through an enriched curriculum within respective art
classes. Students must be nominated by a parent/guardian for consideration. If
you choose to nominate your student for Visual Arts, please complete the
attached form and return it to your student’s campus secretary by October 14,
2022.
Referred students will be required to submit an
art portfolio for review. A three-member selection committee will review the
portfolio, and class creativity exercises. Students may submit his/her
portfolio tangibly or digitally.
If submitting a tangible portfolio:
Please submit a portfolio of 3 or 4 artworks that the student has created.
Please select the artwork with the
following points in mind.

Skillful composition
·
Originality of ideas/expressiveness
·
Complexity and detail
·
Craftsmanship/Neatness
Artwork must be smaller than 20” x
24” if it is two dimensional (drawing, painting, printmaking, collage).
Sculptures can be photographed and
the photographs submitted. We do not want your sculptures to be damaged if
fragile.
If the artwork is jewelry or fibers
(knitting, crochet, weaving, fabric art, and fashion design) please
physically send it as part of your student’s portfolio.
The portfolio will not be kept by the review committee; it will be
returned to your student’s campus.
