MCEN 5055: Advanced Product Design Intent to Enroll
Please use this form to provide information related to registration for MCEN 5055: Advanced Product Design.

This course focuses on the process for designing useful commercial products that address unmet needs. You will leave this class with a concrete concept for a new product and a business plan for making it a reality. The course content includes: need finding, design thinking, sketching, ideation, pretotyping/prototyping, user testing, human factors, intellectual property, and business planning. This is not your typical class - expect a very fast pace, assignments where there is no 'right' answer, and A LOT of teamwork and group projects. In short, expect an experience very similar to what it is like to work in the field of product design. Teams of 3-4 students will design and build a novel product throughout the semester. We encourage Advanced Product Design students to carry their product concepts forward to Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly to take the next step toward a real product launch.
