We are looking forward to hosting you and your group at our site! If you're an
individual or smaller group (<20), please consider signing up for one of our
upcoming Public Tour times. A typical tour of Dane County Rodefeld landfill lasts approximately an
hour and a half. However, the tour length can be flexible depending on your group's schedule and interests. To find out more about the
Landfill Tour &
Trash Lab, check out our website for details or find us
@renewaste on Instagram to follow us around town.
Tours begin with a visit to the Dane County Trash Lab parked at the Waste & Renewables Training Center (
3737 County Hwy AB McFarland, WI 53558).
From here, participants will board a tour bus to head to various locations on our site, such as our Clean Sweep Facility, Construction & Demolition Recycling Facility, and Landfill. Tour participants will be asked to wear close toed shoes and long pants for the tour. Safety vest will be provided for participants to wear during the tour.
Note that tour availability is dependent upon staffing, landfill operating hours, and our current scheduled events/ operations. Landfill tours can be scheduled open during open hours
M-F 7am-2:45pm, see
hours of operation for additional detail. Please list potential backup dates in case of scheduling conflicts. Private tours using the County's tour bus are subject to driver availability. The County tour bus is limited to a 32 person visitor capacity, plus the Waste & Renewables guide.
Additionally, the Department of Waste & Renewables will pay for transportation costs (up to $250 per group) for schools that find transportation fees a barrier to visiting our site. The bus fee waiver is subject to the need of the school and preference will be given for schools with over 40% of students approved for free and reduced meals.
You will receive a response following your form submission if further clarifications are needed, and a calendar confirmation once the event details have been finalized. For follow up questions please contact
