OBS is committed to increasing the diversity of our volunteer team. People from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
We have three main volunteer role available - Host Volunteer, Triage Volunteer and Peer Supporter Volunteer.
- Host Volunteers assist with welcoming service users at in-person sessions.
- Peer Supporters are trained breastfeeding supporters. They are usually current or former service users, who have breastfed a baby for at least 6 months. At the moment, we expect volunteers to train remotely with Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM). In the future we hope to offer in-house hybrid training
- Triage Volunteers are experienced peer supporters (who may have additional Breastfeeding Counsellor level training and experience)
