VOR Driver Training is provided using a
driving simulator.
You will not be driving in a real car. After submitting this form, you will be matched with a driving coach (a volunteer of the same gender) to help you succeed. You will gain the knowledge and skills to learn to drive safely and to pass your behind-the-wheel test. Please understand that VOR staff or volunteers do not provide “on the road” driving practice.
Who can register for VOR Driver Training?
1. You must be 18 years and older, with a valid CA DMV learner's permit.
2. You have transportation to VOR (e.g., bus, bike, or ride from family or friends).
3. You must be able to read and speak English well enough to understand road signage, training materials, and communicate with driving coach.
Priority will be given to newly arrived individuals to the U.S. (2023 or later), especially to those who are primary income earners in the family.
