Concerned Dentists of Wisconsin (Re: Sedation Regulations)
Please join with your Badger State peers in asking the Wisconsin Dentistry Examining Board to carefully consider regulatory changes to its permitting requirements for dentists who offer oral sedation.

By adding your name to the following petition, you are standing up for patients' rights and against the special interests who are pushing these unnecessary and costly changes.

The Petition
Whereas,

The safety and comfort of Wisconsin’s dental patients are of paramount concern

Whereas,

Tens of thousands of Wisconsin’s citizens rely on safe and effective sedation dentistry to ease their anxieties

Whereas,

We know of no evidence that under existing Wisconsin dental regulations and standards of care any sedation patients have been seriously injured by a sedation dentist who adheres to the in-force rules

Whereas,

The newly proposed regulations, which rubber stamp the ADA’s 2016 guidelines, would grandfather in some existing dentists – making it clear that the current rules do not present a clear and present danger to patients

Whereas,

The newly proposed regulations will impose a heavy financial burden on every Wisconsin dentist whose permit is not grandfathered

Whereas,

The increased cost of unnecessary permits will be passed on to our citizens, without providing them additional safety or service

And Whereas,

Rising dental fees will only drive patients away from seeing a dentist, especially lower-income patients who often are most in need of sedation dental care

Therefore,

We, the undersigned Wisconsin dentists, on behalf of more than 400 Badger State dentists who have current sedation permits – and the 60,000 or more Wisconsinites who have been safely and effectively treated under the existing permit requirements – respectfully encourage the Wisconsin Dentistry Examining Board to leave in place the current regulations, which pose no harm to our patients and help constrain the cost of dental treatments.
