Wednesday 10 May, 16:15-17:30 (UK time)
Regent Court -- John Pemberton LT A
On Wednesday 10 May 2023, MARCUS will host an event asking how we can decolonise the study of the premodern world, to celebrate the launch of Is Byzantine Studies a colonialist discipline? This book, co-edited by Dr Mirela Ivanova (Hist) and Prof. Ben Anderson (Cornell), takes a critical approach to considering what it would mean to decolonise Byzantine Studies.
They will be joined by staff and students from Sheffield and from further afield to discuss the question of how we can decolonise the study of the premodern world from different disciplinary perspectives.
If you would like to attend this event, please sign up using the form below, both for attending the talk remotely (you will be sent a link to join the talk closer to the time) and, so that we have an idea for catering, for in-person attendance.
Please sign up by the morning of Tuesday 9 May, so that we can arrange catering.
