They are invited under a variety of pretenses: for employment; for a detective case; or just for a good time. Before the party truly gets under way, a recording plays that accuses each guest of murder. Baffled, these strangers realize that they have no idea who their host is, and when the first guest is murdered, they understand that they have been brought to the island by a maniac who intends to dispense his own perverted from of justice.”

Comedy: “In this hilarious, fast-paced comedy, the inhabitants of one of the smallest trailer parks in Texas – four-doublewides and a shed – are thrown for a loop when just before the holidays they discover they’re being double-crossed by the county. By the time this full-tilt story climaxes, you’ll have doubled your Christmas spirit.”

Sylvia by A.R. Gurney

Main Season Show

Jan. 26-28 and Feb. 2-4, 9-11

Scripts: Can be checked out at The Richland Players Theater, 608 The Parkway, Richland, WA 99352, at the Box Office. (Please see web site for current RPT BO hours).

Comedy: “Greg is a man of middle age, a restless empty-nester, tired of his job in finance, looking for meaning in his life. Sylvia is an exuberant and beautiful lab/poodle mix, a stray in Central Park, looking for a new home. When they meet, it is love at first sight. But his wife Kate, a busy rising star in the public school system, is looking forward to some independence now that the couple no longer has children to care for, and is less than thrilled by the clever and coquettish canine who jumps, slobbers, sits on her couch, and takes Greg’s attention away from his marriage. Wandering the streets of Manhattan with Sylvia by his side, Greg feels like he has connected to a deeper, primal, more natural side of the world. Sylvia supports these poetic musings, but can rarely focus on them for long, being more interested in flipping off the neighborhood cat, or flirting with Bowser at the dog park. Sylvia exerts such a charismatic pull that Kate’s friends are appalled, the marriage counselor advocates divorce and euthanasia, and even Greg’s new dog-owner friend warns him of the splintering effect a dog can have on the relationship between husband and wife. It is only when Greg is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice that Kate is able to see Sylvia not as a threat, but as a new member of her family. A.R. Gurney’s Silvia is a smart, silly, sophisticated, and occasionally salty comedy about relationships, nature, and growing older.”

The Curious Savage by John Patrick

Main Season Show

March 15-31

Scripts: Can be checked out at The Richland Players Theater, 608 The Parkway, Richland, WA 99352, at the Box Office. (Please see web site for current RPT BO hours).

Comedy: “This is a story of an elderly widow named Mrs. Savage, whose husband has left her $10 million dollars. She intends to give the entire fortune away to people who wish to pursue their “foolish dreams”, but her stepchildren strongly object. To prevent her from doing away with their family’s wealth and ruining their legacy, they have her committed to a sanatorium called The Cloisters, and it is among the gentle residents here that she finds her true family. The Curious Savage is a warm comedy that compares the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the greed and hostility of so-called “normal people.” It opened in New York on Broadway in 1950 and played 31 performances with star Lillian Gish in the titular role."

The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 by John Bishop

Main Season Show

May 10-12, 17-19, 24-26

Scripts: Can be checked out at The Richland Players Theater, 608 The Parkway, Richland, WA 99352, at the Box Office. (Please see web site for current RPT BO hours).

Comedy-Mystery: “December, 1940. Elsa Von Grossenknueten, an eccentric theatre financier, has gathered a team at her mansion in Chappaqua, New York. Everyone believes that they will have a backer’s audition for Elsa in order to get financing for the newest musical by Roger Hopewell and Bernice Roth, directed by Ken De La Maize, and produced by Marjorie Baverstock. However, the shadow of the team’s last show hangs over the group-deemed a flop, Manhattan Holiday was ravaged by the “Stage Door Slasher,” a mysterious killer who stabbed chorus girls. The undercover police officer Michael Kelly is hoping to flush out the killer from this group of suspects-but the killer has other plans. More than that, the threat of Nazi saboteurs lurks among them. Throw in blizzard conditions, secret passageways, and some musical snippets to create an Agatha-Christie-meets-Clue formula of whodunnit parody. Popular for high schools, universities, and community theatres, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is full of delightful slapstick for audience of all ages.”
