PBPAC 2023 Priorities Survey

This survey is intended to be a follow-up to our Planning Meeting on Wednesday, September 7. We are looking to determine topics most important to PBPAC as a group and create a political platform to evaluate local candidates and their alignment with our committee goals.

We will be discussing this topic at our monthly meeting on September 12th & voting on a platform to present to candidates this election cycle, though we will leave this survey up for a week or 2 to inform our focus beyond this election cycle and will continue discussing policy goals.

Sidewalk Snow Clearance - maintain to same standard as roads, add more plows and operators

Reduce Impervious Cover

Close Gaps in our Transportation Networks

Advance the "Ten Minute Walk" Campaign

Prohibit discrimination against pedestrians and cyclists at drive-through establishments

Arterial redesign

Two-way street restoration, such as on Park/Congress, State/High, and Elm/Preble

Move Franklin Street Plan forward

Prioritize Brighton Ave redesign

Fund completion of Libbytown Trail (AKA Union Branch trail)

Complete circumpeninsula trail

Improve bike/ped infrastructure from Veranda St. bridge to Martin's Point Bridge

Implement "Better Bike Lanes" plan

Consider closure or partial closure to cars in certain areas, such as Baxter Boulevard

Advocate for Portland to adopt "20 is Plenty" campaign on city streets

Work with stakeholders to change process to reduce speeds on DOT roads

Support removing redundant 295 ramps at Exit 5

Push for ways to increase revenue from public parking

Create a registration fee for private operators of paid public parking in certain districs

Consider closure or partial closure to cars in certain areas, such as Baxter Boulevard

Push for traffic calming via paint and short-term measures

Promote non-auto school transportation

Provide more bike/ped safety education in Portland Schools

Repair dead street lamps

Technical Manual standard for widening sidewalks that accomidates existing storm drains

Formalize and fund snow clearing at METRO stops

Expand sidewalk network along METRO routes

Expand transit frequency and time of service

Reduce fares for transit, either system-wide or on specific routes

Consolidate regional transit agencies
