EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITY

Out There Arts is offering up to 20 local artists, creators and makers the opportunity to be part of a collaborative community art project 'The Giant Stamp Collection'

Your work will be exhibited during the Out There Festival 2023, 15th-17th September and in Great Yarmouth Minster as part of Great Yarmouth Arts Festival later in September 2023.

Application deadline: Friday 1st September.

The Project

Amongst the array of world-class outdoor arts, circus and street theatre presented at Out There Festival, a number of free craft and collective community art activities will be on offer to the public. The Giant Stamp Collection is an open workshop led by the Witty Kitches over the festival weekend. Festival-goers will be invited to create colourful, large-scale portraits or self-portraits which will accumulate to create a joyous, giant postage stamp collection created by participants of the Out There Festival.

The Exhibition

We invite 20 artists, creatives, and makers to contribute a portrait of themselves or others to be part of The Giant Stamp Collection. Artists are welcome to submit a pre-made piece, or create something new.

A special feature of the project will be an exhibition of 20 portraits and self-portraits by local artists interspersed amongst the mass collection of community-created stamps to further celebrate the diversity of local culture and creative talent.

The Witty Kitches will visually unify the submissions by adding stamp-like perforated frames to the portraits.  Artists are also welcome to contribute new works that express the postage stamp theme in their design.

During the festival, the stamps will be mounted on a giant air mail envelope and in a giant philatelist's collection book and later transported to Great Yarmouth Minster for exhibition.

All mediums will be considered, however it must be possible to mount them on a board along with other portraits. All stamps/portraits must be either A3, A4 or 21x21cm in size.

Submissions

All artwork will be returned to artists following the exhibitions.
Selected artists will each be reimbursed £250 as a contribution towards expenses.

We’d like the artwork to be delivered directly to us and we will arrange collection with you after the exhibitions:
