Potential FCC Special Temporary Authority (STA) or Part 5 (Experimental) License to Allow Full Speed Use of IP400 on the US 420-450 MHz Band
For background, see the posting on the IP400 email list - https://groups.io/g/ip400/message/155.

This potential STA is only relevant to US Amateur Radio Operators.

This form is to collect names, callsigns, some basic relevant information of those potentially interested in being included in a potential Special Temporary Authority (STA) to the US FCC to allow STA participants to operate IP400 beyond these current limits in the US Part 97 Amateur Radio regulations:
  • > 56,000 symbols / second and bandwidth
  • > 100 kHz bandwidth (channel size)
on the US Amateur Radio 420-450 MHz band.

This would allow IP400 devices to run at "full speed", which as the case in all other countries (which don't don't have symbol rate or bandwidth limitations in the Amateur Radio 420-450 MHz band). Example - Canada (where IP400 is being developed) does not have such limitations.

There is no definite timeframe for applying for this STA, and such an STA may not even be possible. Thus please be patient.

Followup on this STA will be conduducted in the IP400 email list - https://groups.io/g/ip400.

This information is being collected and collated by Steve Stroh N8GNJ solely for the purposes stated above. If there is no STA submitted to the FCC, this information will be deleted.
