The Engineering Ambassador Program 2021-2022
This program is brought to you by the UCI Science Project & the OCSTEM Initiative.
Thank you for your interest in this support program for secondary science and engineering teachers! We understand how challenging incorporating engineering instruction into your current curriculum can be and wanted to offer teachers more support. We are pairing teachers with UCI Engineering students to help. These are content experts in which you can expect to work for about 5-10 hours each week (depending on your need) beginning mid-October 2021.
This program is for teachers and schools who are interested in any of the following:
- Getting support with planning or implementing engineering for NGSS (specifically learning and teaching about engineering, engineering design, engineering projects, etc.).
- Co-design engineering projects and co-facilitate with your ambassador who can introduce new simulations and tools to students. Also, your ambassador can simply provide extra support by monitoring student work in the classroom.
- Connecting your students with UCI current research initiatives and demystifying and humanize the engineering field by having students work directly with a UCI engineering student.
- Receiving support in STEM teaching by sharing the responsibility with another content expert.
There will likely be monthly meetings in which we ask our teacher participants to share about their experiences to improve our program moving forward (these are scheduled with you and are flexible).
We will send detailed information to all teachers that complete this interest form.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to learning with you!
