Rewarding and cultivating a life long love of reading is our ultimate goal. We have seen what our 1000 Books B4 Kindergarten program can do for our beginning readers and families. Why stop at Kindergarten??
REGISTER
Each reader must be registered. Register at the library or through our website. https://www.reinbeck.lib.ia.us/
Kindergartners through sixth graders may participate once per year.
Once your child is registered, they will receive their reading log. They will need to log the date that they FINISHED the book, the title of the book and the author. This reading challenge is intended to last throughout the school year, so be sure to choose books that you enjoy and perhaps challenge you??
READ
YOU choose the book! We have a reading rainbow system at the library to help guide you. If you can easily read the red books then look at some of the orange labeled books. If those are also easy peasy than you can read any red or orange labeled book and perhaps can try a yellow labeled book?? Reading is fun! Just ask your librarians :) For this challenge, books must be checked out from the Reinbeck Public Library.
REWARDS
On top of the joy of reading for fun, since we all know that books can take you ANYWHERE, you will also get rewarded each time you accomplish a color challenge! Once you complete a color challenge, bring your paper into the Reinbeck Public Library for a prize, snap a photo and get recongnized on the Reading Board at the G-R Elementary School!
