Gen Ed Assessment S2024 - Communication
In spring 2024 the GLOBE committee will pilot a new process and new instruments to assess the general education learning outcomes in Social Sciences; Diversity, Pluralism and Power; and Written and Oral Communication (INTD 105). Everyone who teaches a course in these three general education areas in spring 2024 will be asked to fill out this google form, rate a piece student work meant to meet the gen ed outcome(s), and retain copies of the student work assessed, in electronic or paper form. This summer we will invite faculty to pilot a new process in which several of those who teach in the same area across departments reflect on student learning in general education, use the assessment findings, and make written recommendations for improvement to the GLOBE committee, in single meeting at the end of the summer. If you are teaching more than one general education course, please fill in the survey once per general education section you are teaching.

Help with the general education assessment pilot: Please contact the GLOBE assessment subcommittee for help, at any time: Gillian Paku, Doug Baldwin, Jason Ozubko, Amanda Roth, and Melanie Blood. In addition, we will have a drop in session at the former ASSESSTivus, now titled Where Do We Go From Here?, at 9 AM on February 6 in Doty 302E. The assessment subcommittee will demonstrate the forms, take questions, and work with any individual who would like assistance.
