Adopt a Tree Volunteer Pilot Program
Urban forests are street trees and other vegetation that provide green spaces within an urban setting. Urban forests provide immense beauty to cities, as well as many benefits for people and nature. Invasive tree pests threaten the health of our urban forests.

Help protect your urban forests and adopt a tree to monitor for signs of invasive pests.

This pilot program is focused in the city of Watertown, NY. To participate, select a tree to "adopt," and check the tree(s) in the spring, summer, and fall for signs of a tree pest. If signs are found, you are asked to take a photo of the suspected sign (hole in the bark, woodpecker damage, tree crown loss, etc...) and email it to mdemarco@watertown-ny.gov with the subject of (adopt a tree).

Please fill out the form below to volunteer with this program.

Clear selection
You can choose to monitor any street tree or tree in your own yard for signs of health decline or the presence of invasive tree pests. However, there are trees located within Watertown's Tree Arboretum that need a volunteer to "adopt" them and do the same. Select which option(s) you plan to do.
Use the map and list below to share the general location or the correlated number of the tree or trees you plan to monitor within Watertown's Tree Arboretum.

The list below shows the tree species that correspond with the numbered locations in the map above. Numbers may be changed and updated as new trees are planted.
