March is Women’s Herstory Month! The National Women’s History Alliance selects and publishes the national theme each year for WHM which in 2020 is “Valiant Women of the Vote.” We are expanding this theme to Untold Stories: The 19th Amendment and Beyond. While we will offer programming that explores the 100 year anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment. We will specifically focus on the “Untold Stories” of the movement, with an emphasis on the voting rights activism of women of color. In addition, we have expanded our theme to include Untold Stories of women’s activism and achievements more broadly.  Further, we feel that it is essential that we also acknowledge that the same systems that have diminished the accomplishments of women throughout history have diminished the stories of all communities who experience gender marginalization. This month and beyond we seek to center those stories and experiences that have gone untold and unacknowledged.
