Immigrants Can Code Application
This Virtual Digital Literacy program is a 10-week program that teaches basic computer usage and common software programs, and helps to bridge the skills gap for all people who now need to be proficient in digital tools for work and life. The course covers fundamental computer skills such as file structures and familiarity with hardware terms, Microsoft Office products, the Google Suite, email and web searches, and job searching skills such as resume building and online resources. This class prepares students for jobs that require a strong foundation in computer literacy.

Our next Virtual Digital Literacy course will start March 29th, meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8pm.

Students who already possess these skills may be interested in taking one of our more advanced courses designed to help students begin a career in the tech sector. Funds will be made available for students to participate in more advanced software courses beyond digital literacy. Applications for our next round of software and computer programming classes will open in May 2021.

We would like to thank New York State, Office for New Americans, and the CARES Act for giving us the opportunity to offer the ONA Virtual Digital Literacy course! We are excited to partner with The New York State Office for New Americans (ONA) on a new initiative, Immigrants Can Code, a Digital Literacy program, that will help newcomers to New York State gain digital literacy skills. This partnership will help ensure that New York’s immigrant community will have access to digital literacy education and training essential to building careers in the Empire State’s fast-growing innovation economy.
