We are looking for volunteers for the 2020-2021 BEES PTA Board.

We know this seems early, but if we know who is interested now, you can start shadowing the current board member... it's great way to try it out and learn what PTA is all about.

Lots of Volunteers means Less Work, More Fun, and Better Results for Ellison!!

We need you!

The number one reason people don't volunteer is because no one asked them. Well, we are asking for you to be involved! Your time and knowledge is needed and wanted by our staff and students. The diversity of our community and the experiences you can share with our students is valuable to the school and the children. Volunteering at your child's campus may be one of the most important, life-altering things you can ever do for your child. Whether it's a little time or a lot of time, on campus or at home mom, dad or grandparent, WE NEED YOU! We could not do it without each of you!

Officer & Board Positions / Committees

Below is a list of the BEES PTA Board Positions / Committees.

The BEES PTA Board meets 5 times during the school year. Some positions are for a single event and others have ongoing responsibilities throughout the year. There's something for everyone.

Please select the position/committee(s) you are interested in. *

President: Coordinate the work of all officers and committees. Preside at all meetings of the PTA.

1st Vice President - Programs: Assist the President and coordinate programs.

2nd Vice President - Fundraising: Find community sponsors; help coordinate school fundraisers.

3rd Vice President - Membership: Recruit members and submit member names to Texas PTA.

4th Vice President - Volunteers: Recruit and coordinate BEES volunteers.

Secretary: Record the minutes of all PTA meetings. Maintain PTA records.

Treasurer: Control and manage the funds and budget of the PTA.

5th Grade Promotion: Plan & organize 5th Grade Promotion ceremony and celebration.

AR Store: Organize and schedule 3-4 stores per year and secure items for the store. (Students "shop" with their points earned from taking AR (Accelerated Reader) quizzes.)

Arts In Education: Encourage & assist students, help complete paperwork for the National PTA Art contest - Reflections.

Beautification: Keep the school looking festive throughout the year.

Bilingual Coordinator: Assist our bilingual families, as needed, at PTA events, including meetings, Cafecito and fundraising events.

Book Fair: Assist Librarian with Fall & Spring Book Fairs, including getting volunteers for setup and breakdown, assisting students & managing checkout process.

Buzz Fest: Plan and coordinate committees for the Fall Fundraiser.

Community Outreach/Benevolence: Assist the Counselor to help BEES families and families from our sister school, JCJ scholarship and other charitable endeavors.

Education Rewards: Oversee BoxTops, and other community education rewards. Plan collection times and incentives for BoxTops. Be sure checks are being received by Treasurer.

Healthy Lifestyles (Bike Rodeo & Field Day): Promote healthy living throughout BEES. Plan & organize Bike Rodeo. Coordinate with SAPD, purchase snacks, water, trophy’s & participant awards. Coordinate Field Day.

Historian: Put together a scrapbook documenting the PTA year.

Hive Hustle: Plan and coordinate committees for the Spring Fundraiser.

Hospitality: Organizes events (approx 4 per year) to welcome BEES families and encourage participation in PTA. Events include First Day of School Brunch, Cafecitos and Career Day. Works directly with VP-Volunteers.

Parliamentarian: Advise on parliamentary laws and procedural matters.

Publications: Review correspondence and flyers to be distributed to BEES families. Find community newspapers, etc. to promote BEES happenings.

Room Rep Coordinator: Guide teacher Room Representatives in fall & spring. Provide sample letters, calendar of events, teacher appreciation & favorites lists.

School Garden: Assist with maintaining the school garden. Plan volunteer work days.

School Supplies: Coordinate the online pre-order of BEES school supplies. Organizes the distribution at meet the teacher.

Specialist Volunteers: Help find volunteers to help our Specialists when small projects come up (Library, Music, Art, Computers, Gym, etc)

Spirit Gear: Promote sales, fill orders & plan distribution. Work with Board members on items to be offered in BEES store.

Spirit Nights: Secure dates for once a month spirit dining nights with our community restaurants. Works directly with VP-Fundraising.

Staff Appreciation: Plan and organize teacher appreciation events.

Watch D.O.G.S.: Coordinate BEES Watch DOG program, order shirts as needed and monitor the scheduling of volunteers.

Webmaster: Keep PTA website & Facebook page updated.

Yearbook: Work with yearbook company to plan & order yearbook. Gain online access & assemble yearbook pages. Get volunteers to help with orders & pictures.

Worker Bee: Will help on many different committees as volunteer opportunities come up.
