Etobicoke—Lakeshore Youth Council
The Youth Council is an initiative to engage youth in politics through both discussions and concrete actions on the issues that matter to them. It allows youth to learn about Canada’s political process first-hand, discuss their viewpoints on issues facing the country, and get involved in their community

Learn about how government works, and how it affects you and others your age. MP James Maloney will give regular updates on what is happening on Parliament Hill and how government passes laws.

Advise your Member of Parliament about the issues that matter to you. The council will workshop the ideas that matter to you into the policies of the future. Your perspective will inform James as he represents Etobicoke-Lakeshore in Ottawa.

Grow by working with the rest of your team to make Canada a better place. Show leadership by taking on initiatives with your team to make our community a better place.

When? The council will meet at least once per month for at least two hours. The first meeting will take place in January virtually and the council will decide how often to meet. Members should be prepared to commit four hours per month.

Why? Getting involved in our democratic process is a great way for young people to affect real change while growing their skills and interests. We hope you apply.

Application deadline: Friday, January 21, 2022.
