Aisling Ní Cheallaigh and CircSci (produced by Aaron Koz) are teaming up again to offer a week long hoop and straps (stroops/haps?) intensive in Costa Rica at Airborne Arts!
The hoop classes will cover Ash's ethereal and dynamic flows, spins and rolls, while the straps classes will be taught by a CircSci coach (stay tuned!) using Aaron Koz' and CircSci-tested drills and progressions to give students the building blocks for swinging, spinning, switches, drops, and c-shaping.
With two structured workshops per day (one hoop and one straps) and unlimited training time on top of that, you can either take both the hoop and straps sections or choose a la carte based on what suits your fancy!
The full price of the retreat is $2800 (USD)*. However there is an EARLY BIRD price available of $2500 if a deposit is paid by August 22nd 2022.
If you would only like to book one class (either Hoop OR Straps) the early bird cost is $1875 while the full price is $2100
To book please fill out the form below which includes a request for a video of your current level (see below for pre-requisites). Once your video is approved you will be sent instructions on how to pay the $500 deposit. Once your deposit is received your space on the intensive is secure. All remaining course fee’s must be paid one month before arrival.
Pre-Requisites for Attending
This is a mixed apparatus intensive and we are aware that some students may have little to no experience in one of the disciplines. We are therefore asking for a video on your preferred apparatus to ensure everyone is at a safe level of strength and body awareness to train a new apparatus intensively. If you have experience in both hoop and straps you can choose to put both in your video. Only move in a ROM that feels SAFE for you when filming.
1) Ability to straddle up with long arms and straight legs.
2) Demonstrate an understanding of flares (on 1 or 2-arms).
3) Pull ups (between 1 and 3) and push-ups (between 4-8).
4) Ability to hold a meathook on one arm (entry can be two armed)
5) A sequence in your apparatus that displays a confident, developed understanding of aerial vocabulary (30 seconds - 1mins).
6) Suggested prerequisites but not required: understanding of c-shaping and ability to hold your Back C (back balance on the spanset, straps back balance/support flag/butterfly, or reverse meathook).
Please upload a video to YouTube or Vimeo showing the above skills and share the link in the final question of this form. (You can have your privacy setting on 'unlisted' so that only those with a link can see it.) You can also send the video directly to aisling.cheallaigh@gmail.com via a third party transfer app.
