Collaborative Poetry - Night of Ideas 2023
Tap into your imagination and join us for a fun collaborative project marking the beginning of a month-long celebration of the French-speaking world, coinciding with the first Seattle edition of the global event the Night of Ideas! We invite our participants to explore the theme of the event  "More Transformative Spaces?" by writing a short poem (3-4 lines) using at least two out of the following words of French origin: déjà vu, inconnuflâneur, terrain, tour, façade, pirouette, je ne sais quoi.  Your contributions can be in French or in English, or bilingual. If you know any other languages, please feel free to use them. Just tune into your artistic ear!

The collaborative poems will be associated by timestamp and showcased during the Night of Ideas on March 3, 2023.

Please submit your writing by March 20, 2023 at midnight to be included in the final project, which will be released on March 21 for World Poetry Day.

More about the event theme: "More Transformative Spaces?"

Transformative, liminal spaces build bridges across disciplines, generations, stories and representations of who we are and how we see ourselves in the world. They trigger change, transformation, creating a performative “in-betweenness” across modes of artistic creativity, activism, urbanism, societal behaviors, and global citizenry.

Program details

Our special guests and the audience will address questions about architectural transformations and reuse; storytelling and dance; poetry and image; the intersection between scholarly work and artistic creation.

Think of the transformative spaces in your daily life. What ideas, stories come to your mind?
