Join the Creation Care Commission for a special outdoor worship service this fall at a state park near you! From August through December, we'll meet one Saturday morning a month at 10am for Eucharist at a rented park picnic shelter, rain or shine, followed by an optional "earth art"/nature mandala activity (instructions provided and no artistic ability needed!).

Upcoming dates and locations:
December 12, 11am - Reed Bingham State Park (between Tifton and Valdosta)

Group size is limited to 20 persons total, so advance registration is required (at least 48 hours before we gather). When registration fills up for one of the gatherings, we will place you on a waiting list and notify you by email. If we have 7 people or more on the waiting list, we will add an afternoon service. If you register and cannot attend, please cancel as early as possible to open your spot(s) to those on the waiting list.

Participants should bring their own chairs and/or picnic blankets to allow for physical distancing of 6-10 feet. Some picnic tables will be available, but they may be moved outside of the pavilion to make space for chairs. Bulletins will be provided for worship, which will be a Creation-centered service of Holy Eucharist from Enriching Our Worship. Park facilities are wheelchair accessible, and public restrooms are nearby. State Parks require a $5 entrance fee or annual pass, both of which are available for advance purchase online or at the park (but be prepared to wait if you purchase at the park).

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, we will closely observe all diocesan guidelines for worship in place at the time of each event. Risk mitigation practices include masks, physical distancing, restrictions on music and singing, and no touching. Communion will be received in one kind only (bread). However, precautions only reduce risks; they do not eliminate them. Please carefully consider your own risk level (and that of any others in your party) before registering. Should new shelter-in-place restrictions prohibit gathering, we will cancel the in-person event and offer something online at the same time.
