Spring 2022: DC Reading Clinic Student Recommendations [open November 1 - 29]
K-2 students can be recommended by their current DCPS teachers. The Clinic serves students in need of Tier 3 intervention due to a decoding difficulty. Please consult with the parent or family prior to recommending the student, as families are also required to fill in an application and commit to session attendance.

Students have a decoding difficulty if they are in K-2 exhibit the following behaviors:

- difficulty hearing or "breaking apart" the sounds within words
- difficulty recalling the alphabet
- difficulty naming letters
- difficulty forming or recalling the sounds that letters make
- frequent errors when reading aloud

Families will be sent an application and have five business days to complete it. Phone screens with families will take place the week of November 29.
