Nintendo Switch started it first
Due to lack of sales of Nintendo Wii U in 8th generation console wars (between PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Wii U), Nintendo started early this time, with Nintendo Switch, so though originally released back in 2017, Nintendo Switch is considered as console/handheld to compete with the 9th generation contenders, in this case PS5 and Xbox Series X
After Nintendo stole the show, then came multiple cloud gaming solutions
It all started with Google Stadia, then Nvidia GeForce Now and then Microsoft xCloud. Cloud gaming solution here is those that enable you to use your smartphone as a way to play console quality games, without you hosting the game yourself (so providers like Parsec and Steam Link are out).
