Thank you for your interest in the BVSD Sustainability Advisory Committee ("Community Group" or "Group").  The District is committed to seeking nominations from students, teachers, staff, leaders, partners, parents and municipalities across the District.  You may self-nominate, or nominate someone else for service on the committee.

This new Community Group was established through the 2021 greenBVSD Action Plan (www.bvsd.org/departments/operational-services/sustainability), released this Fall (per BOE Policy ECF). The plan establishes short and long term sustainability goals in the areas of leadership; operations and facilities; curriculum and instruction; and climate and culture.

The mission of this Community Group is to act as a cross-sector advisory group to oversee the progress and continuous improvement related to all aspects of the greenBVSD Action Plan. The Group will be comprised of key leaders and decision makers and will make suggestions and give advice to the Board in order to assist it in the decision-making process. The final responsibility for all decisions, however, rests with the Board of Education alone (per BOE Policy BDF). This Group will have 15 members total. Those selected through this inaugural nomination process will serve a two-year term.

Once formed, the Group will solidify its structure and operations through the creation of by-laws that outline all aspects of the Group. The Community Group is expected to meet quarterly, and its first meeting will take place shortly after spring semester 2022 begins in January 2022. A time commitment for service is estimated to be one to two hours per month.
