The queer community in India has long grappled with marginalisation and discrimination, waging a continuous battle for acceptance and recognition. Despite making strides in recent years, conservative forces persist in hindering their progress, propagating the belief that queerness is a foreign influence, not inherent to Indian culture. Amidst these struggles, the queer community continues to confront issues of exclusion within its own spaces, with particular ramifications for casteism, bearing the burden of double marginalisation due to their identity.

In this session, we aim to explore the phenomenon of caste-based exclusion within Indian queer spaces, employing an intersectional lens to comprehend its complexities better. The session also builds upon caste and desire as one of the dynamics of caste pervasiveness facilitating who gets/can desire(d).
